With district meets quickly approaching, Killeen ISD cross country teams are certainly rounding into form and appear to be in good shape as the season reaches crunch time.
The results speak for themselves.
Shoemaker, which placed five runners in the top 15 on Wednesday morning, won the Lampasas Badger Cross Country Invitational boys team title.
The Grey Wolves posted 37 points. Georgetown Gateway (72) was second and Cedar Park (88) was third.
Blessed Enow crossed the finish line of the 3-mile race in 17 minutes, 24.59 seconds to take third. Teammates Matthew Patterson (17:26.61) and Ja’styce Reed-Williams (17:31.03) were right behind him in fourth and fifth, respectively. Colton Moore (18:38.32) was 11th and Elijah Descalzi (18:51.32) 14th.

The success continued for KISD runners Thursday morning at the Robinson High School Invitational.
In the 2-mile varsity girls Class 5A/6A race, Joana Barcenas and Kylie Gridy-Terrell from team champion Chaparral placed first and second overall to lead a KISD contingent that included the top 12 finishers.
Paloma Patinio was third for the Harker Heights Lady Knights, who were second as a team, and Ellison’s Londyn Bell placed fourth.
The boys 3-mile 5A/6A competition featured a third-place showing from Ellison’s Andy Harper, Harker Heights’ Blake Zimmerman’s fourth-place showing and a fifth-place finish from the Eagles’ Aiden Hill.
Also in the top 10 were the Knights’ Kealin Sandifer and Chaparral’s Jayden Brown.
The Harker Heights boys and girls JV teams claimed first place.
